![]() Once the Developers expand the codecs to allow different formats, then Chromecast will be worth its weight in gold. I am able to play a limited amount of my TV shows and Movies on my Network Storage Device but at the moment they have to be in specific formats. This can only mean that Chromecast will break free from its shackles as more and more apps are created for it. However that is all changing since Google released the software stuff to developers. The Chromecast is a nice little gimmick, and as you mention works off a web browser. I don't have a Roku, though I thought long and hard about it but went for a cheap as chips Chromecast. It all works off wifi and so far Roku is winning the marketing battle. From my limited reserch Intel's WiDi is the proprietary version of Miracast and chromecast.
